Something that seemed so simple spawned such a great controversy

There are many social issues out in the world today that hasn’t been solved yet because of conflicting beliefs that people have with how often the government should intervene with our social issues, and religion which divides the public into different political spectrums, specifically into conservatives and liberals. For all of you who don't know what abortion is, it is the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus which results in death. Generally, liberals are associated as being pro-choice which means that the woman has the right to choose but conservatives are normally pro-life meaning that they don’t think abortions should take place. I personally believe that some people in our nation don’t consider the fact that abortion is sometimes necessary in certain situations and that it is the woman’s body so the government has no say with what a person can do with their own body. I am pro-choice because “abortion is a legal decision not a legal debate.” As you can probably tell, the different schools of thought are constantly at each other’s throats regarding the central argument about whether a fetus is considered a human being or not. And you think?

Im with the bloggers response to abortion. Abortion is a moral issue that is constantly up for debate in the country today. It is a topic so in depth that it's almost as bad as talking about religion or politics with your closest friends. In my opinion abortion should be legal because whether or not i believe in the moral issue at stake dealing abortion, a woman has the right to decide. Other options to abortion are having the child... and if abortion were illegal and the mother does not have the means to care for her child.. then you are actually lessening the quality of life for not just yourself but another as well. It may be difficult to give a child up for adoption and although adopted children have been proven to grow up just fine not knowing their mother, it does create an unnecessary empty space in that child's heart for sense of belonging [for some adopted children]. In cases of rape.. abortion should always be an option for a woman. All in all i think it is up to the mother to decide.

I personally believe that it is a womans choice to choose. I think that if abortion was outlawed, then it will just lead to unsafe and illegal abortions, because no matter what they will still happen.

I am also pro-choice and agree that the government should have no jurisdiction when it comes to a woman's own body. I myself may not be confortable with gettingan abortion but that doesn't mean that women shouldn't be entitled to their own decisions.

I think your argument is clear about abortion. I agree with you on several terms. Abortion should be based on the life quality of the kid. If the kid would be born into a terrible situation, why put the kid through it. Adoption is fine, but a child will always wonder about his or her biological parents, which can cause a lot of stress.

sportzgrl6141 brought up a good point when she talks about "lessoning the quality of life" which is why i have decided to embellish on that idea for my second post. People who think that abortion should be illegal should put themselves in the position of a mother who can't suffiently support herself and then add a kid into the mix.

I think that more people should be just as open minded as Libby is. Libby said that she probably wouldnt get an aborton but she would not stop other woman from getting it. Just because someone doesn't like something doesn't mean that they should stop someone else from doing what they want to do. After all, this is the land of the free.

Simple? You call having an abortion simple? Though i am a male, it is very easy to point me out and say that i have no idea. How many of you (individuals who posted comments) have actually had an abortion? As controversial as a topic like abortion is, i believe that its not the answer. Why should someones stupid, idiotic, irreversible decision kill an innocent child? Where have our morals gone?
